The button flower process begins with the BUTTONS.

Where do I get all of my buttons?

“Everywhere I can.
Thrift stores, Ebay, and yard sales.
My grandmother helps collect them for me.
Friends bring me buttons back from foreign countries.
Many buttons are hand-dyed to achieve specific color needs.”

The flowers that The Button Florist produces are unique because of the incorporation of handmade ceramic buttons. Each ceramic button is created and signed individually with great care and attention to detail.

The clay is rolled into a slab and cut into circles.  The disks are then stamped with or pressed into an object that creates a texture or design.
The found objects that are used to make the ceramic buttons come from Celia’s travels all over the world, as well as her childhood.  From Tibetan prayer stones to pieces of jewelry found in the trash during Katrina clean up.  Celia transfers everyday objects into collections of art that can brighten someone’s day and never fade away.
